Support the Library
The Morgan Hill Library Foundation seeks donations to support the long-term, major needs of the Morgan Hill Library. The Morgan Hill Library Foundation is an affiliate of the Morgan Hill Community Foundation (tax ID 80-0001382), a non-profit organization, and your gifts to it are tax-deductible within the limits provided by the law.
Donations are accepted in cash, marketable securities, life insurance, real estate, foundation and corporate grants and goods and services. While the simplest form of donating is an outright cash gift, donations can be structured in a number of ways that might increase your tax benefits or enhance the effectiveness of your grant. An attorney or tax adviser can provide guidance about giving to the Morgan Hill Library Foundation. Individual situations vary, so it's important to consult a professional about your giving options.

Will or Trust
Name the Morgan Hill Library Foundation in your will or trust to donate a portion of your estate. You can specify a dollar amount, a particular block of appreciated stock, or a percentage of your estate. This kind of gift can substantially reduce your estate's taxes.
Life Insurance
If you designate the Morgan Hill Library Foundation as the irrevocable beneficiary of a life insurance policy, your annual premium might be tax deductible. The cash surrender value of an existing policy might also tax deductible. Life insurance policies that have a cash value can be donated to the Morgan Hill Library Foundation.
Charitable Remainder Trust
Create a charitable remainder trust to provide for yourself and your survivors now and to benefit the Morgan Hill Library Foundation in the future. A charitable remainder trust specifies that the trust's income goes either to yourself or to others for a specified period of time or for life. The principal transfers to the Morgan Hill Library Foundation at the expiration of the trust's term, which can be a fixed date or upon your death.
Endowments
Use an endowment to ensure that your support of the Morgan Hill Library goes on forever. An endowment is a fund that is made up of gifts and bequests that are subject to a requirement that the principal remain intact and invested to create a source of income for an organization. Only the interest and dividends can be used to meet library needs. A endowment to support the Morgan Hill Library ensures that future generations of Morgan Hill residents will have access to educational and cultural resources. Substantial endowment gifts can be used for financing the program of your choice, now and in the future, and to memorialize you or a loved one.
Memorial Gifts
When a relative or friend dies and the family asks that you make a contribution to a charity of choice, we hope you'll consider choosing the Morgan Hill Library Foundation. You will receive a receipt and a thank-you note. In addition, the family of the person you are remembering will be informed of your memorial gift.
Honor Gifts
An honor gift marks a special occasion or acknowledges someone who has had a significant impact in your life. It's a great idea for birthdays, weddings, graduations, anniversaries, and holidays (especially appropriate holidays include Christmas, Hanukkah, Mother's Day, and Father's Day) or just as a way to say thanks. You will receive a receipt and a thank-you note. In addition, a card will be sent to the person in whose name the gift was made, telling them about the gift in their honor. The amount of your gift will remain confidential.
Other Forms of Giving
Talk to your attorney or tax advisor about other ways that you might be able to support the Morgan Hill Library Foundation while maximizing tax savings for yourself or your heirs.
